Tell us your Ebola story
Health professionals are on the frontlines in the battle to stop the Ebola virus worldwide. Even though only a handful of patients infected with Ebola have been treated in the U.S., hospitals and healthcare facilities in this country are training and preparing for more. In West Africa, the Ebola outbreak is still growing. At the end of October, the World Health Organization reported that more than 13,600 people have become infected with the virus, and nearly 5,000 have died.
How has the Ebola outbreak touched your life? WHO estimates that more than 5,000 additional medical personnel are needed in West Africa to halt the spread of Ebola. Have you volunteered to go, or thought about it? Are you being trained in your healthcare facility to handle a suspected case? Have you been discriminated against because you work in a hospital that may treat an Ebola victim?
Give us a report from the frontlines. Send your story, and contact information, to: ebolastory@aft.org.
