Scholarships for New Teachers—offered this year for the first time!

The AFT is offering 25 scholarships for new teachers (those with no more than five years of teaching experience). These scholarships will cover housing and travel. Registration fees and other expenses will be the responsibility of the winning members. Winners must be approved by their local leader, and will agree to participate in special TEACH activities and share their conference experiences through social media, blogs, etc. Members who are new teachers can apply here.

Included in your conference registration

  • Conference bag;
  • Admission to all plenary sessions;
  • Attendance at any concurrent sessions—space permitting;
  • Continental breakfast, Thursday, July 11 and Friday, July 12
  • Welcome Reception, Thursday, July 11; and
  • TEACH Closing Lunch, Saturday, July 13.
  • Family, Friends and Visitors who wish to attend the welcome reception or closing lunch will need to purchase a ticket.
  • Free access to the Share My Lesson TEACH 2019 community.

Special accommodations

The AFT will make every effort to ensure that accommodations at the Hilton are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). If a TEACH 2019 participant anticipates a special need as a result of a disability, the participant should contact Kitty Owens in the AFT convention, meetings and travel department at 800/238-1133, ext. 4514 or e-mail kowens@aft.org no later than Monday, June 3.

Cancellations or substitutions

Registration cancellations must be submitted in writing to Tina Stewart by e-mail (teach@aft.org). There is a $50 cancellation fee for cancellations made after June 30, 2019. Refunds will be made after the conference. Substitutions are allowed at any time, preferably in writing.
