WASHINGTON—Statement by American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten on President Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Agreement:

“For whatever reason, the president seems hell-bent on Making America Sick Again. Today will be remembered as the day this country turned its back on our children, our future and the world. Climate change is real, and denying it will damage our economy and our environment for generations to come. To cynically pit worker against worker, and jobs against science and the environment, not only is patently dishonest but also creates a false choice that betrays this country’s belief that our best days are in front of us. The AFT will continue to fight for a just transition to a peaceful and sustainable economy and environment, and we will stand united with our allies, including those in the Blue Green Alliance, against this callous attack on our kids’ and our country’s future.”
