National Institutions Coming Out Day of Action: April 19, 2017

Calling on all institutions to protect immigrants, refugees and DACA recipients on campus!

Educators Institutions Coming Out Day

Educators and institutions play a critical role in helping to create learning environments free from the threat of deportation, racism, bullying and hate. As immigration raids across the country terrorize communities, we need to be ready to defend the rights of our students and their families, and to protect those with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals status and others on our campuses and in our communities from the threat of deportation. On April 19, National Institutions Coming Out Day of Action, will you come out as an unafraid educator and institution and pledge to protect immigrants in our classrooms, campuses and communities?

Sign this pledge to commit to taking action on April 19, and share your selfie with the #UnafraidEducator and #RiseUp hashtags.

Educators across the nation have been working to increase the visibility of their support for undocumented students by participating in the annual National Educators Coming Out Day. AFT Executive Vice President Mary Cathryn Ricker wrote about being an "unafraid educator." Read her post here. (A Spanish-language version of this appeared on Univision.com.) Many educators have taken the pledge! You can too: Join unafraid educators here.

We need you now more than ever. Will you stand with us and take the pledge? After you sign up, you'll receive materials, support and training from immigrant youth and allies who are ready to help you help your community.

Join us and take the pledge today by clicking here!
