Due to COVID-19 affecting communities and operations across the country, the 2020 Census self-response phase (the time in which people can complete the census online, by phone or by mail) is extended to October 31, 2020. The 2020 Census is something you can do right now from the comfort of your home. Go to my2020census.gov to ensure your community is accurately counted! #EverybodyCounts
Helping ensure an accurate census count is one of the most important things AFT members can do to help their communities.
The census aims to count every person in the United States. We only have one chance every ten years to get an accurate count that will determine how many congressional representatives each state gets, and the allocation of hundreds of billions of federal, state and local dollars. This section provides information on what you need to know, and how you can help.
You can earn extra income while helping your community. The U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting thousands of people across the country to assist with the 2020 Census count, including temporary, part time workers. This is a great opportunity for AFT member retirees, paraprofessionals, and others who would like to ensure that your community gets the money and services it needs. For more information go to CENSUS2020.gov.
