WASHINGTON—AFT President Randi Weingarten issued the following statement in support of AT&T workers who have walked off the job to stand up for a fair contract and a better future:

“The 40,000 AT&T workers on the street this weekend are American heroes. They’re not only standing up for a fair contract and good healthcare and against rampant outsourcing, they’re also fighting for a better future for themselves, their families and workers nationwide.

“Thousands of AFT members will join with the Communications Workers of America and the community on picket lines today and tomorrow to send a clear message to AT&T and other major employers: It’s time to respect, not exploit and pauperize, the workers who make your companies strong.”
