AFT Responds to DeSantis’ Announcement of Presidential Run

MIAMI—Immediately after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis—noted enemy of books, families, teachers, and homeowners and renters alike—announced that he would be running for the presidency in 2024, American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten issued the following statement:
“Under Ron DeSantis, Florida students and families are being viciously attacked by far-right culture warriors, while teachers and working families are being squeezed for every penny by the billionaire corporations that make up DeSantis’ donor base. Luckily for us, if his Twitter campaign launch snafu is any indication, Ron DeSantis will not be a serious contender for president in 2024.
