2021 AFT Civil, Human and Women's Rights Conference
I CAN’T BREATHE: AN URGENT CRY FOR JUSTICE
SAVE THE DATE
Join us October 22-23 for this year's 2021 AFT Civil, Human and Women’s Rights Biennial Conference! It has been two years since we convened for our biennial conference, and so much has happened in that time: an ongoing global pandemic, a racial reckoning as we all watched George Floyd violently lose his life, a new president, the attempted rigging and stealing of an election—including the storming of the Capitol Building. Our future as a country—and a democracy—lies in the necessity of our ability to boldly face the truth of America's past and present, to fight for voting rights, demand justice, and carve out space for reconciliation. We should be able to walk down any street in America knowing that we all have the freedom to thrive.
We Were There: October 2019 in Montgomery, Alabama

“Once social change begins, it cannot be reversed. You cannot un-educate the person who has learned to read. You cannot humiliate the person who feels pride. You cannot oppress the people who are not afraid anymore.” —Cesar Chávez
