New AFT Members** are eligible to apply for $5,000 of Group Term Life Insurance with no premium payment required for the first 12 months.*** 

As a special benefit provided by the AFT, members, in their first 12 months of membership, are eligible for a $5,000 Group Term Life Insurance policy with no premium payment required for the first 12 months. If you are actively working, you can also apply for $25,000 in coverage with no Statement of Health required for the first 12 months of membership. This special benefit of Group Term Life is provided by The American Federation of Teachers for one year as an enhancement of your AFT membership. 

All you need to do is complete the application form to the AFT + Insurance Program for coverage to become effective. The term life coverage will have an effective date on the first day of the month following the date the application is signed and received by the administrator.
