to represent the 2nd Congressional District in Arkansas

WASHINGTON—The American Federation of Teachers congratulates Arkansas Senate Majority Leader Joyce Elliott on her victory today in the runoff election to select the Democratic nominee for the general election race to represent the 2nd Congressional District. Elliott would bring to Congress the same passionate commitment to reducing obstacles to success for children and families that she has shown throughout her career. The AFT knows Elliott’s talent, skills and sophistication well, especially her dedication to improving education for all kids. She taught high school for 31 years, and was president of her local AFT affiliate in Arkansas. We were pleased to focus our time, resources and energy on supporting her campaign. The AFT proudly will continue to support Elliott throughout her campaign to represent the people of the 2nd Congressional District.
