This program provides financial assistance to full-time employees of a Delaware school district or charter school who teach on an Emergency or Limited Standard Certificate in a critical need area as defined by the Delaware Department of Education. Districts may reimburse teachers for all or part of tuition and registration fees paid for up to three credits/term (fall and spring) of coursework that will enable them to achieve Standard Certification. Delware residency is not required, but applicants must have a minimum of a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Reimbursement is made for up to the cost of three credits per term (fall and spring). The maximum reimbursement per term for the 2014-15 academic year is:
- $1,362 for undergraduate coursework
- Up to the cost of three credits per term for graduate coursework, not to exceed the cost of three credits at the University of Delaware.
- $30 for the registration fee (if any)
There are two application cycles each year, one in January and one in June.
