National Bullying Prevention Flag Raising Campaign
The AFT has an exciting new partnership with Cartoon Network’s Stop Bullying: Speak Up, National Bullying Prevention Flag Raising Campaign, launched February 20th.
Cartoon Network’s Stop Bullying: Speak Up has been working since 2010 to provide bullying prevention resources to educators, parents, and students.The Stop Bullying: Speak Up campaign was created because kids told them bullying was among the biggest problems they face and one problem they actually feel they can have an impact on.
This year, with support from LG, Stop Bullying: Speak Up provided AFT with free bullying prevention kits to help teachers, parents, and communities begin or enhance their anti-bullying work. The program was such a success that we have exhausted our supply of kits. However, you can now access these important materials online! The online kits include:
- Educators guide—Including strategies and timelines for introducing the topic in elementary and middle schools, reading lists, tip sheets for students and parents;
- Flag Templates—For Educators, Administrators, School Employees and Students to display and/or create their own flags;
- Free downloadable posters; and
- Curriculum materials in English, Spanish and Farsi
You can access these materials today at http://stopbullyingspeakup.com.
Once you’ve downloaded materials for your classroom, be sure to spread the word of the campaign to family, friends and colleagues to encourage their participation in the nationwide effort to prevent bullying.
