General: What does Paul Ryan on the Republican ticket mean for your family, your job and your community?

America has to stop blaming the current president for the failing economy. Truth is Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney and the rest of the republicans have fought to stop everything positive this president has put on the table to help the American people. Sadly they have even fought against issues they supported and sought passage on. America, we need President Obama and Vice President Biden back in the White House, but we also need a Body of suppporters who have the American intrest at the heart of their focus.

We need more people in Washington that understand the importance of living on a budget. Our country can not continue to spend borrowed money - cuts must be made somewhere. Ryan went to public schools and is a part of the middle class, which gives me hope that he will bring some realistic goals and ideals to the Executive Branch.

Due to the "Pension Offset" ruling my husband's SS benefits were severely reduced though he paid in to SS as a FT employee for 17 yrs, and as a PT employee for about 20 yrs, because he was a Municipal employee for 30 yrs. and is receiving his Municipal pension. We are concerned about Romney/Ryan winning in November and maybe losing or seeing a reduction of the remainder of his SS per year? As retirees the thought of losing any of our Medicare or SS is more than frightening. The Bush yrs. left us with a SS freeze for 2 yrs. Romney/Ryan care about the wealthy 1% only. We need Obama/Biden for 4 more years. Vote straight Democratic in November!

If this were a fair and balanced question, I might respond. Not everyone from AFT is a Democrat. Some are Republican, Independents, even Green.

Ryan on the ticket is both a horror and a delight--he makes the issues so clear! So if he's elected, the consequences will be deadly, for all of us. The university I work at, UCLA, will be in trouble, and have to rely increasingly on private funds, becoming less and less a state institution. I'm hoping that his inclusion on the Republican ticket will clarify things for voters--if we elect this pair, we really will be shooting ourselves in the foot. Let's hope we're sane enough, as a group, not to do that.

Paul Ryan & Romney would return us to another depression worse than the last . We need Mr. Obama to be able to iniate a lasting budget that would benefit all Americans not just the uppper 2 per cent . We would be crazy to elect Romnney & Ryan. The only winners would be the rich. While we would coninue to be losers especially the middle class & women. Thanks

Seeing the GOP constituency elected to the White House this year would signify the end of the moral & spiritual freedom that we, as Americans, have come to expect, accept & cherish. It also means that most of us would be on our way to living as second, if not third, world citizens. I feel an immense grief that so many American citizens currently fail to realize these things.

Pres. Obama still has to state what his plans are to grow our economy; how he is going to actually work with Congress this time around? Its still going to be a Republican Congress. He can not win this election on being the least of 2 evils. I love the man, however I think he has done a better job with foreign affairs then with domestic. It will be a tight race and he needs to give us more than slogans. He needs to place out there, on the ground reality plans of how to get us out of debt and have small businesses trust the federal government. Taxing the rich is just one item of a very complex issue. Obama needs to step up so he can win.

I am an unemployed teacher going on 14 months since my lay-off. With this loser in the White House with Romney, I can count on even less of a chance of finding a new teaching job, and a continued decline in quality in my kids' public schools. Why should Ryan care about public education anyway? Billionaires don't send their kids to public schools.

Ryan comes from Wisconsin, my birth state. The Republican party has divisively divided WI over the past two years. I fear that Ryan on the ticket will continue the divisive divide for our nation if elected. This means divided families over social issues and economics, an increased divide between the haves and have nots, divided communities and an increasingly divided nation. How much more division can the U.S. take before we stop being "us?"

I wish the AFT & ALF-CIO would use better language to explain in simpler terms what's at stake for our memebers' earned health benefits: The Ryan Medicare voucher would convert an "earned defined-benefit" plan (similar to our pensions) into a 401K-styled health insurance program. Plain and simple: Romney-Ryan would change the structure of Medicare (A,B,C,&D)where I am now paying a percentage of my payrole check (1.4% on 100% of my income) into a system to received a set benefit. Romney-Ryan would take that away from me, replace it with a yearly check and leave me to the for-profit wolves to find my health insurance. Good luck with that!

It means that my son who has high blood pressure will not be able to get health insurance. My grandsons who just graduated and are working, but does not make enough money to buy health insurance will be without health insurance. Right now, they can be on my son's insurance until they can find a job that pays more. It also means because we are retired and do not get much of a pension will not have medicare. Romney and Ryan are just a continuation of the Bush era. They could prove themselves if they cut the salaries of congress and put them on the same insurance program the rest of the working class have to deal with.

If Romney and Ryan get in I will not survive on my income, I am fine now. But if Ryan has his way to cut ss and Medicare I am screwed along with the millions of seniors. I paid in all my life. How dare they want to take my money!!!!!

If the Romney/Ryan ticket wins, America will become America Inc. They will privatize Social Security & any other entity they may get their hands on. Also Medicare will be destroyed,Planned parenthood eliminated, resulting in women's rights gone!! Also, the Affordable Care Act will be repealed resulting in higher medical care for Americans & higher profits for the helthcare industry.

A Romney/Ryan Administration would have a detrimental impact on ALL people making less than $250000/yr, jobs, communities, states, & America: People will find their local, state, & federal taxes (including "fees" they don't consider "taxes") will increase dramatically. Result: Less spending for anything but necessities; Due to less disposable income, fewer jobs! Those w/b exported, so Big Corps/Wealthy few can make ever greater profits; Education "vouchers" for private schools (w/a few token "needy"), to the detriment of Public Education. Result: Many children "Left Behind" w/little chance of further education/growth; Finally, no retirement

The end Medicare is crucial for my parents and myself as we all depend upon the existence of Medicare as our only source for health insurance. The cut of 11 million dollars from the budget for US veterans care and benefits (my father is a veteran). Most Importantly, his budget will gut priorities for access to Pell grants for nearly 10 million students and he plans to double student loan interest rates. My sister has 3 children who depend upon the existence of this funding to continue their college studies. If the GOP wins - the USA is heading for a disaster and I already worry about access for her children for their college studies.

Paul Ryan and his budget, whether he gets to be VP or not, represent the end of the New Deal and the Great Society. I know there are a few rich folk who like that, but the rest of us don't. We don't want to go back in time to 1930.

I am a Democrat and believe that President Obama is doing a wonderful Job. I believe that, if Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan win, our educational system will get worse and not better. The Republican Party, which both men are members of, has, and still does make cuts to Education, and health care programs essential to Children; Seniors, And Low Income families

A change of hope. The Obama ticket has increased gas prices, budget cuts in education, and the deficit is alarming to all Americans. I have applied for hundreds of jobs to no avail. It has been the most difficult three years of my family life. I thought by going to college and getting a degree that would enhance my family life. We need a change that will restore the American Dream for all people in America. We hope your ticket will lead us all on a better path.

Paul Ryan on the ticket is good news!! At last, people will be able to see more clearly that this agenda is really going to favor the "one percent" and not the rest of us! And that "one percent" is NOT the same one percent of twenty years ago! This is a whole new, much more wealthy, class than we have ever seen. It will give us an opportunity to emphasize the real schism that has grown between that new "one percent" and the rest of us!! Paul Ryan is just as amiable as can be, but remember he gives copies of Ayn Rand to all his staff members!
