Higher Education: Should universities accept corporate funding for research?
Universities must strictly define the conditions of corporate contributions they accept for any purpose. If a university doesn't have explicit language to maintain control of research and its outcome, it's certain that any corporation will apply its own, along with some possible/probable objectives for the research that may greatly counter a university's mission and values. History shows that corporations put profit before anything.
If they do this, give a bunch to the American Indian colleges. If you're owrried about the needy in the next election, look at the reservations.
