RTI State Database
This Web site section from the National Center on Response to Intervention provides resources on a number of topics related to response to intervention (RTI). The resources, which range from policy documents and briefs to trainings and tools, were developed by states, districts, or territories in the U.S. They are available in an easy-to-use database that allows the user to conduct a number of different searches.

A Parent’s Guide to Response-to-Intervention
This brief and easy-to-read guide to Response to Intervention (RTI) explains the practice and answers questions commonly asked by parents. It highlights the benefits and detriments of Response to Intervention and makes clear what parents need to know about RTI if their child has a learning disability or if RTI is used at their child’s school. The document is an advocacy brief prepared by the National Center for Learning Disabilities.

Response to Intervention: What Parents Need to Know about This Approach to Identifying Students Most At-Risk for LD (Q&A Session on RTI with Dr. Judy Elliott)
This is the text of an online discussion with Dr. Judy Elliott, an assistant superintendent of school Support Services at the Long Beach Unified School District. Her district has had RTI methods in place since the mid-1980s. In this forum, parents and educators questioned Dr. Elliot on a broad range of issues, including: the three-tiered model of Response to Intervention, methods of evaluating and targeting students, parental involvement, and logistics of implementation.

Response to Intervention: Policy Considerations and Implementation (PowerPoint Presentation)
This presentation provides an intermediate level overview of Response to Intervention for those who already have a basic working knowledge of the subject. It defines the practice of RTI while focusing on issues of implementation. Additionally, it offers guidelines for policy. The document is a summary of "Response to Intervention: Policy Considerations and Implementation," published by the National Association of State Directors of Special Education.

Response to Intervention: Policy Considerations and Implementation (Presenter’s Guide)
The goal of this guide is to support a presenter in connecting the ideas in the presentation, "Response to Intervention: Policy Considerations and Implementation," to actual practices at the state, local district, and building levels. The guide provides talking points for every slide, activities to enhance learning, coaching notes to facilitate professional growth and suggested further readings. It also includes handouts and worksheets for participants.

Introduction to Response to Intervention: What, why, and how valid is it?
This paper is a literature review that synthesizes several scientific studies of Response to Intervention. The article looks specifically at the "R" and "I" of RTI—explaining that "R," responsiveness, is dependent on effective progress monitoring and "I," intervention, must be instructive and evaluative. The document also examines several unresolved issues with RTI, such as defining the normative population and understanding "nonresponsiveness."

Responsiveness to Intervention (RTI): How to Do It
This is a detailed, practical manual for implementing Response to Intervention. It was created to help one understand, design and evaluate the various features of RTI. The manual covers schoolwide screening, progress monitoring, tiered service delivery, fidelity of implementation, school examples, student case studies, and research examples. It was prepared by the National Research Center on Learning Disabilities and concentrates on students with specific learning disabilities.

Response to Intervention Blueprints for Implementation: District level
The purpose of this document is to provide the basic framework around which Response to Intervention can be built. Rather than listing overly specific practices needed to execute RTI, this blueprint outlines general functions that must be completed in any successful program. The manual describes the stages of consensus building, infrastructure development, implementation and assessment. It specifies implementation components, wisdom from the field and available resources for each stage. This particular blueprint concerns implementation at the district level.

Response to Intervention Blueprints for Implementation: School building level
This blueprint parallels the above document but pertains to the school building level.
