Should a Student Be Removed from the Classroom?

• Removing a student from the classroom should be used only after a series of in-class actions have been applied.
• Once the student is removed from the room, the teacher relinquishes control of the situation.
• When students are out of the classroom for punishment, they are not in the classroom for learning.
• Unless a student violates the health and safety of others or is chronically disruptive, in-class sanctions should be used if possible.
