The Internet's role as the "information superhighway" lived up to its moniker during the 2008 presidential election. From fundraising to Facebook, from YouTube to yard signs, and from e-mail to message boards, the Internet served as a great resource for both candidates to raise money and reach out to millions of Americans.
This section highlights how e-mail, text messaging and the Internet were used like never before in outreach campaigns to engage and involve people during the campaign. Technology also increased participation through new fundraising activities that allowed everyone to contribute and by urging potential voters to get out and vote on election day.
