Academies are designed to provide leaders with the tools they need to advance professional issues in their locals. This intensive experience will take place over three days as participants learn about cutting-edge issues and develop a
strategy to implement these programs.

Peer Assistance and Review
Locals face enormous pressure to use test scores as a single measure of teacher competence. Peer assistance and review (PAR) provides a better answer to effectively evaluating, as well as supporting, teachers. PAR allows teachers to take control of the standards of their profession and to help new teachers meet those standards.

Response to Intervention: Addressing Implementation Across Multiple Levels
This academy will immerse union and instructional leaders in targeted discussions about Response to Intervention (RTI) and provide specific implementation strategies across multiple levels: the district, the school and the classroom. Team Building and Communication: Pillars of Leadership for Academic Achievement
Improving schools and increasing student achievement require union, district and school leaders to work in teams to confront and address day-to-day realities through solution-driven strategies. If your team is beginning a partnership to improve schools or is working to strengthen an existing partnership, this introductory academy is for you.
