A&R makes 'comfort covers' for children of WTC victims
About two dozen members of the FPE/AFT-affiliated Administrative & Residual Employees Union (A&R) in Connecticut turned out for the local's "Comfort Covers Project." A&R members Candace Hall and Janis Bureau organized the Dec. 20 event, which was held at the A&R office in Newington.
Over the coming year, Hall hopes union members will make 100 comfort covers to be donated to the children of union members who either died or lost their job as a result of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the two World Trade Center towers. "When you look at the enthusiasm of our members, I don't think that will be a problem," Hall says, noting that since the event, she has received numerous phone calls from union members wanting to know the date of the next get-together.
