Resolutions backed by convention delegates reflected increasing dissatisfaction with the direction of the nation’s social and economic policies—and the continued attacks on organized labor.

From “Fulfilling Our Nation’s Promise,” which summarizes the economic assault on working men and women under the Bush administration, to “Wall of Shame,” which calls on the labor movement to publicize information about notorious anti-union corporations and governments, delegates committed the union to increased activism.

Several resolutions central to AFT Public Employees divisional work received strong backing, including one proposed by the Wisconsin Professional Employees Council opposing contracting out the administration and responsibility for elections.

Other resolutions reflect the union’s ongoing priorities, including passage of laws mandating nurse-patient ratios and national healthcare reform.
