  • A good site for social studies and history educators is the Digital Classroom of the National Archives and Records Administration. This site, at www.nara.gov/education, provides teaching activities, excellent articles, "electronic workshops," and a wealth of primary documents and sources.

  • The Gateway to Education Materials (GEM) project at www.thegateway.org, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, provides educators with quick and easy access to the substantial, but uncataloged, collections of educational materials found on various federal, state, university, nonprofit and commercial Internet sites

  • In September 2000, Zillions magazine, published for young people by Consumers Union, discontinued its print publication and switched to an interactive Web site for kids. The new site at www.zillions.org is packed with kid-tested reports on toys and other products popular with young people. The Web site contains no advertising.
