The benefits gap
Why part-timers are losing out in today's economy

Where the gaps are

HEALTH CARE COVERAGE

Traditional workers:   83 percent
Contingent workers:   61 percent
Temporary workers:  46 percent

PARTICIPATION IN RETIREMENT PLANS

Contingent workers:   16 percent
Temporary workers:    4 percent

Note: Health care coverage figures do not indicate the percentage of workers who were offered insurance through their employers, only those who had some kind of coverage. Many workers in nontraditional arrangements report that the plans offered are too costly for them to participate in.
