SAT CHANGES Students and educators can get a quick, free rundown of important changes slated to begin with the March 2005 SAT exam through an online animation developed by the Princeton Review. WALK ON THE WILD SIDE May 14 marks the 200th anniversary of the start of the landmark Lewis and Clark Expedition. YOUR RIVERS May 15-23 is National River Cleanup Week, a chance for civic-minded groups nationwide to protect and preserve a priceless national resource. Now in its 13th year, the cleanup week attracts volunteers from Massachusetts to California; last year 430,000 volunteers participated in cleanups covering more than 88,000 miles of waterways. CARNEGIE TOOL KIT The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching's Knowledge Media Lab has developed a new tool to help educators document and share their work and knowledge online. The KEEP (Knowledge, Exchange, Exhibit and Presentation) tool kit offers teachers and students an easy way to organize and display their work on the Web, including multimedia displays. The resource leads educators and students through the selection process for display materials. Using specially designed templates, the KEEP tool kit also allows presenters to reflect and comment on each item included in the online display. JOURNALISM HONORS High school journalism teachers can apply for the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund's 2004 National High School Journalism Teacher of the Year award program. The winning teacher will speak to the fall convention of the Journalism Education Association/National Scholastic Press Association in Atlanta and other honors, including being the keynote luncheon speaker at the Columbia Scholastic Press Association convention in New York City. The winning teacher also receives a laptop computer with publishing/academic software, and one of the students at the honoree's high school will receive a $1,000 college scholarship to pursue journalism studies. Nominees must have at least three years of experience teaching high school journalism and plan to continue teaching in the 2004-05 school year. The nomination deadline is July 1.
