McElroy, LaCour and Cortese Re-elected,
Seven New Vice Presidents Elected to AFT Executive Council 

BOSTON — The American Federation of Teachers’ president Edward J. McElroy, secretary-treasurer Nat LaCour and executive vice president Antonia Cortese were re-elected to two-year terms by delegates to AFT’s biennial convention, meeting in Boston. The union also elected seven new vice presidents to its 39-member executive council:

  • Shelvy Y. Abrams, board member, New York State United Teachers, New York
  • Michelle Bodden, vice president, United Federation of Teachers, New York
  • Linda Bridges, president, Texas Federation of Teachers
  • Kenneth Brynien, vice president, Public Employees Federation, New York
  • Stacey Caruso Sharpe, building representative, Amsterdam Teachers Association, New York
  • Eric Feaver, president of MEA-MFT, AFT’s Montana affiliate
  • Judy Hale, president, AFT-West Virginia

Re-elected to the AFT Executive Council during the convention were:
