National Educators Coming Out Day: Jan. 9, 2017

Calling on all educators to protect immigrants, refugees, and DACA in your classrooms and institutions!

With the incoming administration, we need to be ready to defend DACA and the most vulnerable of our students and those in our communities. Will you come out this January 9th as an unafraid educator and pledge to protect immigrants in our classrooms and community?

Sign this pledge to commit to taking action the week of January 9th—just a few days before the swearing-in of President Donald Trump.

We need you now more than ever. Will you stand with us and take the pledge? After you sign up, you'll receive materials, support, and training from immigrant youth and allies who are ready to help you help your community.

Join us and take the pledge today!

AFT Executive Vice President Mary Cathryn Ricker wrote about being an "unafraid educator." Read her post here (Spanish-language version here) and take a look below at some of our AFT members and leaders who have supported National Educators Coming Out Day. You can become an Unafraid Educator, too: Join Unafraid Educators here.
