AFT Convention in Los Angeles, July 11-14, 2014
WASHINGTON—The American Federation of Teachers is holding its biennial national convention in Los Angeles July 11-14, with more than 3,500 members expected to attend.
With the theme "Reclaiming the Promise of America," AFT leaders and delegates will engage in spirited floor discussions and vote on policy resolutions on many of the current hot-button issues affecting AFT members and the people they serve. Delegates represent all AFT members—pre-K through12th-grade teachers; paraprofessionals and other school-related personnel; higher education faculty and staff; nurses and other health professionals; and public employees in federal, state and local governments.
AFT President Randi Weingarten will deliver the keynote address on Friday, July 11, at 9:30 a.m.
A detailed agenda will be released as the convention nears.
