The aim of the Legacy and Lessons project is to dramatize the relevance of history for understanding and addressing current social and political challenges. The aim is also to clarify the legacy that made the election of our first African-American president possible and to foster mutual understanding and respect.

The deadline for essay submissions is December 15, 2009.
