AFT Civil, Human and Women's Rights Conference Set for Oct. 26-28

A wide range of equity topics will be explored at the AFT's civil, human and women's rights conference scheduled for Oct. 26-28 in New Orleans, La. Workshops at the conference, sponsored by the union's human rights and community relations department will cover such issues as community coalition building, the "new" segregation of schools, HIV/AIDS in America, the attack on worker rights and more. The conference will also explore the effect of the healthcare crisis on women and minorities, mobilizing for the coming elections and the growing disparities in economics and education affecting AFT members and their communities.
