AFL-CIO Hosts Aug. 7 Forum For Democratic Candidates

The AFL-CIO on Aug. 7 will sponsor a forum in Chicago with the top seven Democratic presidential candidates, to be moderated by MSNBC's Keith Olbermann and broadcast live on MSNBC and XM Radio. More than 15,000 union members and their families are expected to attend the forum at Soldier Field, featuring. Sen. Joe Biden, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Sen. Christopher Dodd, former Sen. John Edwards, Rep. Dennis Kucinich, Sen. Barack Obama and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson.

The debate will air on MSNBC from 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m. EDT. The AFL-CIO executive council is likely to make a decision on Aug. 8 as to whether to convene the federation's general board this fall to consider a presidential endorsement.

The forum is part of ongoing discussions and events with candidates sponsored by the AFL-CIO as the federation seeks raise the profile of working families' concerns in the 2008 presidential election campaign.
