CEW 2003 Banner
Every event needs a clear identity. Here is a pdf of a custom designed banner for CEW 2003. Feel free to use it as part of your event. Just download the file onto a disk and take it to your local printer (Kinko's, etc.). A printer or copy shop should be able to output it at 24" x 36" (or larger) for relatively low cost.

"Blueprint" Signs
This piece bears AFT’s underlying theme for CEW 2003: Fairness & Equity --Blueprint for Quality. It provides a window to speak on fundamental issues and provide proactive solutions (e.g., those contained in the Standards of Good Practice)  (see below).   Consider mounting these signs on poster board and handing them out to participants on the day of your event. They will help add "visuals" to your gathering, and support your message.

Black & White Posters
(click the poster you wish to download at the right)
Successful events require a certain amount of "buzz." As you plan your CEW activities, you’ll want to generate interest among students, other faculty members and the public as a whole. To help get people thinking about CEW issues, place the 11 x 17 "Elephant" and/or "Meet me in my office" poster(s) on bulletin boards, doors, walls--wherever LOTS of people will see them. This will help your audience become better informed and create opportunities for part-time/adjunct faculty advocates to discuss their concerns before, during and after your CEW event(s). Once you schedule your CEW event(s), consider placing announcements (with date, time, etc.) next to these 11 x 17 posters. You should also consider running these posters (or resize versions) as ads in local/campus papers.

Fliers
(click the poster you wish to download at the right)
This letter-sized version of the larger posters is easily reproduced and can be handed out as fliers, and in large quantities, well in advance of an event. If you need a better copy for duplication, 8.5 x 11 pdfs are available below. You may want to use these documents as double-sided fliers--with your event information (date, time, place, etc.) and/or local contacts on the reverse side. Depending on the theme of your CEW activity, you should also consider handing them out during the event(s). Don’t forget to attach them in mailings/packets for media.

Standards of Good Practice in the Employment of Part-Time/Adjunct Faculty
AFT’s "Blueprint." Consider distributing it to press as part of your dealings with journalists. And, of course, consider making it a central part of your CEW event.

Sample Media Advisory
Use this as a guide for announcing your event to the press. Remember that an advisory should be short and clear and free from jargon that may be unfamiliar to members of the press/general public.

Sample Op-Ed
A great way to generate "buzz" on an issue is by submitting op-eds to your campus/local/state newspapers. Consider modifying this piece as needed (contact the paper for length restrictions, etc.) and submit it for publication.

Part-time/Adjunct & Other Nontenure Track Faculty (National Data Sheet)
Use this data to give your event a national context. Use the information as part of your background packets for media.

Additional Contacts
If you have questions related to part-time faculty issues, coalition partners, CEW activities in other parts of the country, or if you need assistance with public relations or advertising questions, this is the place to start.

Campaign Stickers
A successful CEW event needs a good, unifying theme--one behind which all participants can rally. The theme should be broad enough to allow for varying perspectives, but not so overly encompassing that your points are lost. It should also be VERY visible (displayed on banners, signs, buttons, T-shirts, etc.) and easily understood (by participants and by the general public). The enclosed "Fairness and Equity" campaign stickers are a step in that direction. They can be worn by all event participants (particularly speakers) provided that the theme of "Fairness and Equity" features prominently in the spoken remarks. The idea is to make what we are all fighting for VERY clear to anyone who comes in contact with the event (a passerby, the reader of an article on the event who sees an accompanying photograph, a TV viewer watching a 30-second segment on the evening news, etc.). A limited number of these campaign stickers are available.
