It’s Time to Send a Message to Politicians: Don’t Cut Millionaires’ Taxes on the Backs of Students, Faculty and Staff.

Phone

Last Monday, Governor Christie unveiled his budget proposal for the coming year. His vision includes over $1Billion in cuts to education with $200 Million in direct cuts to higher education. These cuts are coupled with a tax cut of over $1 Billion for New Jerseyans making more than $400,000 per year. Join with other AFT members across the state and let your legislators know that it’s just not right to cut over a billion dollars from education and give the money to millionaires.

Education funding is an investment in our economy and helps our state cultivate a skilled workforce to compete in the global economy. We should maintain that effort in tough times, not cut it.

There will be more to do in the coming weeks of legislative debate, but the most important thing we can do now is to let legislators know that we shouldn’t start the discussion with disastrous cuts to education and payouts to millionaires.

If you can take a few minutes to call your legislator, please complete the form below to be connected to your Assembly member’s office (we’ll provide some talking points for you).
