Since 1980 Ivan Tiger has been secretary-treasurer of NYSUT, a post he was elected to after serving for three decades as a leader of the United Federation of Teachers in New York City, NYSUT’s largest local affiliate. Tiger served on the UFT’s negotiating team and executive board and as District 2 representative, where he helped to shape the union’s policy on a range of legislative and political issues. At NYSUT, Tiger oversees the union’s fiscal operations and has been active in VOTE-COPE, NYSUT’s political action campaign. He is also chairman of NYSUT's Member Benefits Board and Vice-President of the Jewish Labor Committee.
