AFT Vice PresidentJudy Schaubach is the president of Education Minnesota. She also serves as an Executive Committee member.
Schaubach has long been a strong advocate for educators and students, and she is a recognized education leader on both the state and national levels. Throughout her career, her commitment to excellence has been demonstrated through her leadership positions in such organizations as the National Council for State Education Associations, AFT Executive Council, the Minnesota AFL-CIO, and the Great Lakes Center for Education Research and Practice. Schaubach played a vital role in the merger that led to the creation of Education Minnesota in 1998.
She received a B.A. in Elementary Education and Library Science from Augsburg College and a M.S. in Media from Mankato State University.
Her community service includes: National Council for State Education Associations, president-elect; Minnesota AFL-CIO, vice president; Alliance for Student Achievement, board member; American Federation of Teachers, vice president; AFT State Federation Presidents Advisory Council; Great Lakes Center for Education Research and Practice, board member; National Education Association Member Insurance Trust; Great North Alliance, board member; NEAFT Partnership; Housing Minnesota, trustee; P-16 Partnership; Minnesota Education Finance Reform Task Force; and Center for Excellence in Urban Teaching, board member.
Schaubach's family includes her husband, Jerry; two daughters, Jennifer and Jodi; two grandsons, Tyler and Aaron; and a granddaughter, Alixandra.
