AFT Vice President
Marcia B. Reback is president of the Rhode Island Federation of Teachers and Health Professionals. She taught for 29 years in Providence public schools at the elementary level and was president of the Providence Teachers Union for 19 years. Her teaching fields were reading and science, and she also served as a social studies curriculum specialist for grades four through six. Her professional and community service includes developing state policies on teacher preparation and recruitment, certification and professional development in collaboration with the state commissioner of education, and serving as an executive board/executive committee member of the Rhode Island AFL-CIO. She serves on the AFT Teachers program and policy council and the AFT advisory committee on state federations.
Reback serves as a member of the Rhode Island State Investment Commission and the Rhode Island Policy Consortium for Education and chairs the Rhode Island Certification Policy Advisory Board. She is a board member of the Holmes Partnership, serving as its treasurer; and is assistant treasurer for the Rhode Island Democratic Party.
