AFT Vice President
Newbold is president of the Detroit Association of Educational Office Employees, which represents more than 1,100 members.  She is also an elected vice president of the Michigan Federation of Teachers and School Related Personnel and serves as state co-chair of the PSRP and chair of the Organizing Committees.  Newbold is also president of the Detroit Coalition of Bargaining Unites and a member of the Metropolitan Detroit AFL-CIO executive board.

She volunteers with several community organizations, including the Detroit Compact.  Newbold organized a mentoring program in her local for teenage mothers.  Under her leadership, the local also opened a training center for its members in 1998.

Newbold is a lifetime members of the NAACP and Precinct Delegate; volunteer, United Way Community Services; member, Gamma Phi Delta Sorority; member, AFT PSRP program and policy council.
