AFT Vice President
Ruby Newbold is president of the Detroit Association of Educational Office Employees, which represents more than 1,100 members.  She is also a vice president of AFT Michigan and serves as state co-chair of the PSRP committee and as chair of the organizing committee.  Newbold is also president of the Detroit Coalition of Bargaining Unions and a member of the Metropolitan Detroit AFL-CIO executive board.

Newbold volunteers with several community organizations, including the Detroit Compact.  She organized a mentoring program in her local for teenage mothers.  Under her leadership, the local also opened a training center for its members in 1998.

Newbold is a lifetime member of the NAACP and a precinct delegate; a volunteer with United Way Community Services; a member of Gamma Phi Delta sorority; and a member of the AFT PSRP program and policy council.
