AFT Vice President
Malfaro is president of Education Austin, TX.  Malfaro began working as a bilingual elementary school teacher in 1987, and has been president/co-president of Education Austin since 1999.  Education Austin is the first merged AFT-NEA affiliate in Texas.  Prior to the creation of Education Austin, Malfaro served as president of the Austin Federation of Teachers from 1992-1999. 

Malfaro is a member of the AFT Teachers Program and Policy Council; president of the Austin Central Labor Council; and a member of the governing boards of the Texas Federation of Teachers and Texas State Teachers Association.

He is married to Lisa Maxwell Malfaro and they have two sons, Ben, 14, and Liam, 8.
