Dennis Kelly

AFT Vice President
Dennis Kelly has been president of the United Educators of San Francisco (UESF) since 2003.

Kelly began his career as an English teacher in 1969, and has been active in UESF since 1971, serving in numerous leadership positions over the years. He also is a long-time member of the AFT Teachers program and policy council, and served for a decade as the chair of the Progressive Caucus of the AFT.

Kelly is a vice president of the California Federation of Teachers and a member of the executive committee of the San Francisco Labor Council. He has been a delegate to the council for nearly four decades.

Kelly earned his Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary's College of California and his teaching credentials from San Francisco State University.

Kelly is proud that his office showcases a collection of baseballs autographed by every AFT president since 1974.
