Susan M. Kent is president of the New York State Public Employees Federation (PEF), which represents some 56,000 members and staff in the public sector throughout the state. Kent has been the New York State Education Department’s statewide labor-management chair since 1999 and its Division 194 council leader since 2000. Prior to being elected PEF president in 2012, she was an advocate for PEF members on the union’s Region 8 steward and political action committees and on the PEF executive board. Kent is a delegate to the Albany Central Labor Council and a founding member of the Kate Mullany Chapter of the Coalition of Labor Union Women (CLUW Albany Chapter). She holds a Certificate in Information Management from the University at Albany and a Bachelor of Science degree in business, management and economics with a labor concentration from the State University of New York Empire State College. She has a master’s degree in educational psychology and a graduate certificate in program evaluation from the College of Saint Rose.
