Thomas A. Dooher
AFT Vice President
Thomas A. Dooher has been president of the 70,000-member Education Minnesota since July 2007.
Prior to his election as president of Education Minnesota, Dooher served as president of the Robbinsdale Federation of Teachers for 10 years. During his tenure, he helped strengthen the union by bringing young members into the local and mentoring them for leadership positions.
Dooher has also served as an Education Minnesota governing board member and in other leadership roles with the Robbinsdale Federation of Teachers. He has been named a Minnesota Academic Excellence Foundation hero.
Dooher's teaching experience includes more than 10 years as a physical education teacher for the Robbinsdale area schools, where he also coached track and soccer. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., and a Master of Education from Hamline University, also in St. Paul.
Dooher also serves the labor community in his role as a member of the Minnesota AFL-CIO Executive Board.
