LOCATION: United Faculty of Florida (UFF) is a service unit of one local with approximately 4,500 members in twenty-four bargaining chapters (11 state university faculty, 1 private college faculty, 9 community college faculty, and 3 graduate assistant) throughout the state. This position will be located in Southeast Florida with responsibilities throughout South Florida.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitor and coordinate UFF program implementation including communications, training, employee relations, minority concerns, instruction and professional development, membership promotion, political action, legislation, etc. Assist with UFF bargaining, contract enforcement, and organizing, as assigned. Provide consulting services to leaders as required. Administer programs pursuant to UFF policies. Assist with chapter and program evaluation. Maintain liaison with other organizations and groups within assigned areas. Maintain a continuous liaison with UFF leaders. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Organizing and Field Services and the UFF Executive Director/Manager of Higher Education.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's Degree is required and a Master's degree is preferred. The position requires familiarity with education-employee union work as member-leader or staff. The successful applicant must have at least two years as staff or comparable experience preferred; including bargaining, contract administration/grievance adjudication, business management, membership development, leadership and organizational development, internal and external communications, governmental and political advocacy, member and human rights, and education reform. Experience in working with staff and programs.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Salary per the negotiated agreement between the Florida Education Association and the Florida Staff Organization based on credited experience. Salary range is $65,364 to $97,853. Employer-provided hospitalization, medical, dental, vision, life and long-term-disability insurance; employer-paid retirement; vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
