ESP Membership and Organizing Specialist
(Two positions are available)
Florida (regionally assigned)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement and coordinate programs to promote membership among all FEA ESP constituency groups.
  • Assist the FEA ESP local affiliates in strengthening organizational capacity through the identifying and training of local leaders, as assigned by the Assistant Director for ESP Organizing.
  • Assist the assigned FEA ESP local affiliates in designing, coordinating and implementing crisis organizing plans.
  • Coordinate, assist and participate in the delivery of appropriate training to FEA ESP local affiliates in the areas that will include, but not limited to, membership development, representative/steward training and communications.
  • Serve as a resource, in coordination with the Assistant Director for ESP Organizing, to ESP leadership, governance bodies and committees.
  • Develop and prepare communications and publications, as needed or directed, to facilitate the ESP organizing effort.
  • This position will require extensive travel and frequent weekend assignments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Organizing and Field Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with education-employee union work as member-leader or staff.
  • Staff or comparable experience preferred; including membership development, leadership and organizational development, and internal and external communications.
  • Experience in bargaining, contract administration/grievance adjudication, governmental and political advocacy, member and human rights, education reform and working with staff and programs would be helpful.
  • This position will require extensive travel and frequent weekend assignments.
  • Person must be able to speak and write proficiently in Spanish and English.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Salary per the negotiated agreement between the Florida Education Association and the Florida Staff Organization based on credited experience. Salary range is $65,364 to $97,853. Employer-provided hospitalization, medical, dental, vision, life and long-term-disability insurance; employer-paid retirement; vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
